Universal Discovery Learn Yourself

Adele just shared a link to a LinkedIn article earlier today, called, "Don't Sell Your Time For a Living"

http://www.linkedin.com/today/post/article/20130601234458-531284-don-t-sell-your-time-for-a-living

The one tip that really stood out to me was this...

"Learn to make something. Anything."

If you can make something, anything, that can be a basis for a business. It doesn't have to be something that nobody else knows how to make. It just needs to be something that ENOUGH people can't make, but want to have.

What can YOU make?

Universal Think- The Lecture

Do you Flow?

I've been thinking of Flow. What is this Flow I refer to?

Good old Wikipedia defines it as...

"Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does."

The secret to happiness according to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi is to achieve Flow often in most areas of your life.

Can this be applied to your website and business? Of course! In fact the author of the book Flow states...

"A Web site that promotes flow is like a gourmet meal. You start off with the appetizers, move on to the salads and entrees, and build toward dessert. Unfortunately, most sites are built like a cafeteria. You pick whatever you want. That sounds good at first, but soon it doesn't matter what you choose to do. Everything is bland and the same." - Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi

There are 6 factors which encompass the state of Flow...

1. Intense and focused concentration on the present moment
2. Merging of action and awareness
3. A loss of reflective self-consciousness
4. A sense of personal control or agency over the situation or activity
5. A distortion of temporal experience, one's subjective experience of time is altered
6. Experience of the activity as intrinsically rewarding, also referred to as autotelic experience

Have you turned your website and business into flow experiences for yourself and others?

I'd love to hear your thoughts. So, post your comment below right now!

How To Benefit From Facebook Changes Even If You Don't Like Them

"The only constant is change." The Greek philosopher Heraclit didn't have Facebook in mind when he stated this fundamental truth around 500 BC. It fits the social network like a glove though. Notorious for its frequent and often unannounced changes, Facebook stimulates its users to heated debates, time and again.

Rather than getting upset, go with the flow and use Facebook's ever evolving landscape to your advantage...

The New Facebook Page Admin Panel - Yay or Nay?

A few weeks ago, Facebook changed what they display in the top left part of the Admin Panel. Where you used to see "Notifications" about new posts, comments and likes by your fans, you are now presented with a list of your own recent posts, their total reach number and a hard to miss "boost post" button.

It stands to reason that this was another move to push promoted posts. Facebook says no. They claim it was an effort to get page metrics such as reach at the forefront.

I am pretty annoyed with that change. Immediate access to the notifications was a big help in monitoring comments, especially on older posts. Now you have to click on the "Notifications" buttons to check them, then click back to your Timeline.

What say you? Thumbs up or down for the new Admin Panel?
